NEW YORK, NY – More than 40 top high-school relay teams are set to compete at the Reebok Grand Prix in New York City on May 31, organizers announced today. Among them are some of the best high-school teams in Jamaica.
The relay teams will compete on the same track as some of the top Olympic-caliber athletes in the world. Among the highlights will be 100-meter matchups between triple World Champion Tyson Gay and Usain Bolt, who recently became the second-fastest man in history; and Veronica Campbell of Jamaica and American Lauryn Williams in a rematch of their World Championship 100-meter photo finish. Also on tap will be Chinese hurdling sensation Liu Xiang and Jenn Stuczynski, the most-exciting pole vaulter in the world this season.
The Reebok Grand Prix will begin at 5 p.m. on May 31 at Icahn Stadium. New bleacher seats, along the backstretch with clear views of the finish line, will be available for $15. Grandstand tickets range from $50-$24. Tickets are still available, by phone at 1-877-TIX-TRAC or on-line at www.ReebokGrandPrix.com.
